In case you are using Google Pay, then you would know that there is a new feature introduced in the app with which you can make payments using credit/debit cards. In fact, they have come up with some really good offers for making payments via cards.
However, the majority of users don’t know how to add a credit card in Google Pay. So in this post, we take a look at this new feature and how you can get started and avail of the offers.

You can add credit cards in Google Pay by selecting payment methods in the profile section. Once you click on the credit/debit card option on the next screen you will see the option to enter your card number.
I also followed the same procedure and entered my credit card details but I got the card type not supported error. After that, I tried using other cards but every time the same error was displayed on the screen.
Then I went to the payment methods tab to check there I found that only select bank cards are supported. The supported banks include HDFC, SBI, AXIS, Kotak VISA Cards, and HSBC VISA Credit cards.
So if you have any of the supported cards you can follow the steps mentioned below to add your card to Google Pay India. In order to add a credit card on Google Pay make sure you have access to the mobile number registered with your credit card for OTP verification.
Open Google Pay on your device.
Tap on your Photo.
Next tap Settings>Payment methods >Add card.
Enter the card number, expiry date, CVV, and the cardholder's name and billing address.
After filling up all the details tap Save.
Now accept issuer Terms & conditions.
Google Pay will contact the bank to verify your card.
Choose how you will verify.
You will be asked for additional authentication via OTP
You need to tap Activate and enter your One-time password.
After entering your one-time password. You will see a confirmation
Now use your card for transactions
Now, make payments on Google Pay using a credit or debit card. However, the feature is available for select bank cards only. The feature has been made available for SBI, Axis, Kotak Visa Cards, and HSBC Visa credit cards. This feature will be rolled out for other bank cards soon. If you try to add other bank cards you will get the card type not supported error.
Adding your debit/credit card to Google Pay has many benefits. You can make Tokenized card payments for all the below use cases:

3. Mobile Recharges on Google Pay
4. Online payments on 3rd party merchants where Google Pay is accepted

Use your credit card linked to Google Pay for offline merchant payments, e-commerce payments, and bill payments. The card is stored in a tokenized format for added safety. There is no need to share your card number, CVV, and expiry details. While making payments, open Google Pay app and select the card for payment, complete OTP authentication to finish the transaction.

Save up to Rs. 570 on recharge and bill payment on Google Pay. The offer is valid on payment with select bank cards only. User will get flat Rs. 70 cashback on the first transaction. The cashback for 3rd transaction during the offer period is Rs. 20 to Rs. 500. So you can save up to Rs. 570 across three recharge or bill payment transactions on Google Pay. The minimum amount for each transaction should be Rs. 199. You earn 2 scratch cards with this offer on the 1st and 3rd payments.
Get 10% cashback on your order on the MagicPin website or app. The offer is applicable on transactions made using a Credit or debit card linked to your Google Pay account. Maximum cashback of up to Rs. 50 will be provided on your 1st payment. The cashback will be credited to your Google Pay linked bank account. Google Pay MagicPin offer is valid once per user. The offer is applicable on select bank cards only. The user has to make payment using Google Pay tokenized card on MagicPin.
Get up to Rs. 200 cashback with Google Pay Yatra Offer. The user will get 3% cashback on his/her transaction. This offer is applicable on payment made using a credit or debit card linked to your bank account. Proceed to payment on the Yatra website or app and choose Google Pay as the preferred mode of payment. Complete the transaction using Google Pay tokenized card for this offer. Google Pay Yatra offer is valid once per user. Google Pay now supports tokenized cards to facilitate secure payments through credit or debit cards. The payment app also uses UPI-based payments through users' bank accounts. The credit card feature was recently introduced in India. Now, users can add select bank credit or debit cards to their Google Pay wallet for secure payments.
